Universal Design in Healthcare

2023

For this project I utilized tenants of universal design to create a healthcare reception space. I was assigned a specific department and asked to research and specifically cater to the users who are most likely to engage with the space. The floor plan used is from the Ohio State Dublin Outpatient Center.

The primary focus of my design was the comfort of its users. The space is specifically curated to people who may visit a rheumatology department and has taken careful consideration to ensure a pleasant and functional experience. A few examples of these are, hip height seating, hand rails, muti-height countertops, acoustic control, and more detailed below.
