Space Modeling Through Patterns
2021
The goal of this project was to break down and assess several cultural patterns, creating a pattern from them and translating that pattern into a 3D art installation environment maintaining a flow path.
I began by simplifying and combining elements from Swaziland basketweaving and Greek Meander. I was interested in these patterns as a result of the conflicting organic and geometric nature of each of them. From the Greek Meander I rose pillars to cut through the space, onto the pillars I wove sheets of paper to represent the basketweaving, I manipulated these sheets to create path, space, and entrance in relief model.
