CSTW or the Center for the Study of Teaching and Writing is a staff led organization committed to assisting students and professors in any writing related needs. They offer tutoring programs, research assistance, curriculum building courses and more. After being housed in a small corner of Smith Lab for several years CSTW would be moving into a large suite located in Bricker Hall.

I began this project by meeting with several CSTW staff members and touring their existing space. This allowed me to better understand the program needs I would have to meet while planning for their move. During this meeting I was asked to make use of as much existing furniture as possible due to a lack of funding required to purchase all new furniture. However, CSTW's existing furniture was primarily hyper-modern and Bricker Hall's existing furniture was extremely traditional. In order to resolve this I created a divide between public and private spaces within the suite. Locating the formal furniture in private office spaces or study rooms, and the modern furniture in public facing more social spaces.
